Im currently rebuilding a Saxo Vts (16v) 2002, I bought this recently having stripped I found the inlet cam pulley smashed and the belt was actually alright, on further inspection the timing case bolt had come free and clattered the cam pulley. Now the heads been rebuilt new gasket etc etc. I got a set of second hand cams and Im at the stage of fitting the belt. The new belt (gates) has aligning marks, with the crank pin and cam pins in Im always 1 or 2 teeth out wit the marks on the belt. Now I know this doesnt matter all that much but I cant help but think something isnt right? The crank is at tdc on cylinder 1 and mark aligns with bottom mark on belt (crank) but the exhaust pulley is always out. Could I have maybe been given 2 exhaust pulleys? They appear to be the same but may have slight differences.
2nd question the crank pin 6mm drill bit, sits in a larger hole, am I right in thinking the drill bit can sit against either end of the larger hole and be timed up correct or does it need to sit in the centre which seems daft?
Thanks
