Hello,
Today I was involved in an accident. I was driving and came to a priority over oncoming traffic sign (it was my right of way). There was a slow sign where I went to about 25mph, so slowed down from 30. I wasn't speeding or anything. The car on the other side continued to drive. The road gets smaller in order to only allow one car, I was at the base of this so he couldn't pass but continued to do so. I also couldn't have moved to the right as there was an overgrown hedge/bushes. He continued to drive, subsequently going onto the pavement. He was driving at some speed so I stopped and reversed as he would've hit the right side of my car and caused some damage (we were only centimetres away). He wouldn't reverse eventhough no one was on his side. I reversed only about 10cm, thinking there was space, however the car behind which I now presume to have been moving slightly on his clutch? (as it wasn't much). Subsequently I now have two small dents and the panneling around the break light has come off. It was clear that he would've seen me before the wait line. I'm a new driver and don't know what to do as it will cost quite a bit to fix. I also have dash cam evidence to support this. My car has more damage and the car behind only has a light scratch. Arguably he could've stopped behind or seen and given me more space and the driver who didn't stop was at fault. I have never crashed or been in an accident so far.
Whos fault would it be/ who would pay? and What should I do? My car insurance excess is £800 which is a lot.
.Looking at the one who didn't stops reg online he hasnt been for his MOT which is up
Thank you
