Hi I need help
Basically, on a small residential road by a cross junction I pulled up behind a car and I was stationery, this car reverse lights came on and he reversed I beeped my horn but too late his car hit mine. At the time, he said I didn't see you (therefore he must have not checked his mirrors) he didn't want to go through insurance because he had only just got insurance and agreed to pay for the repair of my car and I should get some quotes and he will get a quote from a garage next to where he works. I agreed that it would be better for both of us to avoid going through our insurance companies. I then got 2 quotes and sent them to him via email and he replied via text in effect those quotes are huge, he will get a quote (he took photos of my damage) from his garage. He also texted do you want my insurance details because if he couldn't get cheaper quotes he will have to go through insurance, I replied yes and then nothing from him and I sent text messages and emails over a few weeks. Finally he replied to an email and is now saying he is happy to leave it as it is (we both sort our own damage out) because he would come out on top due to saying I hit his car, which is false. My problem is I have no witnesses, but he had 2 passengers and I don't want to get a fault claim on my insurance, if I pursue.
