I have a Honda 2.0 accord tourer 53 plate which has an annoying tapping coming from the engine. It's NOT the tappets as I have been through them 3 or more times and even run the engine with the cam cover off (messy) and used stephescope to try and locate the noise to no avail. It's a strange tapping noise as it almost dissapears when the engine is warm. The noise is there when I very lightly press the ACC pedal. It has been suggested it could be piston slap. Any ideas anybody? The fact that the tapping gets less when warm suggest metal expanding and closing the gap of the offending problem. Just a bit more info I have replaced an exhaust cam shaft that was breaking down and replaced the chain and tensioner as a matter of course but the tapping was there before I did this work.
