If you change a light fitting in your own home you have to get it checked out by a professional electrician. So why is it OK to to repair brakes on your car (or somebody else's) without the needed skills or expertise?? I have been a tech for over 40 years so I know what I'm doing. I have just had my rear brakes replaced on a secondhand car I recently purchased as part of the deal and had to redo the the brakes myself when i got the car home, the pads were forced into the callipers because none of the corrosion was removed under the antisqueal shims or the sliders. Surley there should be some sort of regulation to stop unskilled mechanics fixing cars???
