My car was written off in July 2015 when a lorry hit it when it was parked outside work. The damage wasn't too bad but as it's an old 2002 Toyota yaris it was written off. I decided to keep it and accept the settlement minus about £130 for the scrap value of the car.
Now it's been damaged again when some idiot decided to ram the side of my boyfriend (insured on my car) when he was over taking them, the other driver proceeded to assault my boyfriend too and the police have been called but his number plate wasn't taken note of so we don't know who he is yet. We're hoping the police will find out but if he is found I don't know what to do about the car.
It's obvious they'll write it off again so I'm wondering if it's even going to be worth the hassle, I'd probably get more selling it than what they'd offer me for it, will they offer me the £130 they asked for the last time it was written off? Or will it still be valued as what I could have sold it for before the second accident? There's a lot of cat c yarises on autotrader for quite decent amounts.
I also don't want to not claim as the idiot who did it doesn't deserve to get away with it. I want a claim to be on his insurance record if you understand what I mean. Is there a way I can demand the cost of having the scratches and dents fixed so I don't have to have my insurers write it off?
