My current insurance policy expires at midnight tonight, and I was concerned that I had not received my C of I from my new insurers. So I phoned them.
It appears that my on line policy document also contained my C of I in a form that allowed it to be printed into a hard copy. I had not looked hard enough to find it as I believed that this was one piece of paper which had to come from the insurers and that a photocopy was not valid for producing to the police.
I was also told that, with the centralised information now available to the police via the DVLA, it was not a requirement to have a hard copy of this document for producing. We learn something every day, don't we?
I'm afraid I am a bit of the old school and keep my documents in the car with me - so a hard copy has been printed to continue in this manner.
