Speed Awareness Courses - Nice Little Earner

I wasn't aware that the AA ran some 11 speed awareness courses in this country. As a result the AA is making a healthy profit from this operation. I cannot see how a private company can be allowed to make money from this?

This next link is how one chap found the course run by the AA - quite a funny story - but I am not sure why an army driving instructor is taking the classes.

I say this because going to work for a military defence company, I had to sit and pass their driving exam which was mainly a 20 minute drive around the area. Afterwards the examiner, a former RAF driving instructor, told me I had only just passed and he had considered failing me. He explained that when braking for a junction, I should use the gearbox and change down, 4-3, 3-2 etc to assist the brakes.
Yet strangely, when I did my advanced driving course 2 years previously, I was told and instructed to use ONLY the brakes. The examiner told me that if I was going to drive as per the advanced method then I would be failed.
Returning to my workplace the boss called me in and said the driving examiner had complained about my driving style. You just can't win.
