Mirror Judgement & Changing Lanes

Hi all,

I hope you're all well

Just a silly question regarding mirrors. First of all, I should probably state, I'm an extremely risk averse individual.

I've found it really difficult to "judge" when using mirrors.

For example, when a vehicle is in the next lane to me on the right hand side, I find it difficult to judge whether it is as close as I think it is...

This obviously puts me in a somewhat precarious position when changing lanes, I'm finding myself thinking "Hmm, that car looks way too close to me, I better not change lanes". But then I look at cars ahead of me changing lanes and they seem to do it with such ease and confidence...even in tight situations. I just worry my judgement is skewed and that the image I am interpreting from the mirror may be skewed.

I know this sounds super strange and many of you may call for me to tear up my license as a result of revelation, but any help or constructive criticism would really be appreciated., I don't want to stay in the left lane (whilst I find it peaceful and calming) all my life! :(

With thanks,

Adam.

P.S - I have another confession to make :(, when I do end up deciding to change lanes I'll use my indicator but I'll take ages in actually changing lanes because I'll spend this time watching the car behind me making sure they are definitely not speeding up and I'll also be using this time to make sure they are not speeding up. I guess people find this annoying? Any thoughts?
