Insurance fine

Hi guys,

I've just received a £640 fine from HMCTS for having no car insurance for a certain period.

After my car insurance expired. I left the car parked in my drive for around 5 months before I sold it. I didn't drive it once.

I understand this is illegal as I did not declare the car as SORN. Is £640 the right amount? Why £640 exactly.

Is there anything I can do to get this cost down?
