Last Thursday I noticed a noise coming from the brakes of my car. I knew I needed new brake pads, no big deal so I took it to a garage on Saturday and they replaced the pads. I drove straight home, I didn't use my car again until Monday morning when I was making my way to work. On the way to work I realised I had no brakes! I tried to stop on approach to a junction but failed and flew out in front of an on coming car. Thankfully the other car braked and was able to stop!
When I got to work, I was in shock, I phoned the garage and spoke to the man who carried out the work, he was very ignorant and told me in no way would getting new brake pads fitted effect the braking system! I wanted him to come out And look at my car but he refused saying he would look at it but only if I drove it in. I was not prepared to do this as it is 30+ miles away. I said I would get someone local to my work to look at it and get back to him. I got a local mechanic out who told me the brakes hadn't been bolted back on and the calliper was lying in wheel rim, it was damaged and some pins were missing. I phoned back the original man who did the work and he spoke to the local mechanic. He agreed to look at it and took my reg so as to order a new calliper and screws, yet he still insisted on me driving it back to him. I had no other choice but to drive it to him.
There, the keys were taken off me and I was told sharply someone would ring me when it was ready, no apology! I left it with them and they repaired it and left it back to my house last night as I had borrowed a car to get to work yesterday and had no way of collecting it. When I got it back they had washed it (Without asking) and left me a box of chocolates.
I am out of pocket as I was late for work on Monday and had to leave early to drop the car back so my wages will be docked and also I had to pay the mechanic I called out to look at it! Not to mention I was nearly killed! Interested to know if anyone has been through something like this? I feel I have been treated like I did something wrong. A box of chocolates is an insult and still no apology just a speech about how they never make mistakes.
