I was thinking when and what car to buy. I've been driving for roughly 6 months and I know that my car (Fiat Punto MK2 1.2 Active 3dr) will break soon because of the issues it has and had. Recently got new clutch and gearbox (In which it's leaking! http://www.rac.co.uk/forum/images/smilies/mad.png) my insurance runs out next may so I would like to get a new car for then, I live in Preston but planning to move to Stafford for personal reasons (insurance is cheap too!)
I don't mind the budget but reasonably I wanna spend £1'000, I want something reliable, fast (because i'm 19!) and good.
The last straw with the Punto was when I locked my keys inside the car by leaving them in the ignition, went out to get something from the house, tried to open the UNLOCKED passenger door then it decided to lock the whole car.... As you can see I am not happy with the Punto, but I love it because it's my first car and it drives well.
I am considered a good driver and not a stereotypical boy racer! ( I don't speed stupidly and never modded my car or try to look cool!)
but here is a list of known issues with my Punto
gearbox oil leak
sump oil leak
Bad earth in rear left back light
car locks itself from passenger!
car judders heavily at low speeds sometimes
a "whirling" noise at times (can hear it better in the rain!)
a rattling noise in which i'm sure it's the start motor but can go away after driving it or randomly disappears, but comes back on when going around a car heavily (a quick 3-point turn!)
exhaust hits the suspension I think (loud knocking noise when reversing at low revs)
car doesn't even turn over at times (related to the starter motor!)
