bad and good

Monday 15th July I am stranded in Stony Stratford with a Nissan Almera with a haywire immobiliser. Despite usual tricks such as pressing door buttons on fob it wouldn't start. I phoned the RAC on a mobile with a failing battery and got ten minutes of inane advice on the benefits of putting oil in my car and checking the battery etc and, of course, they were experiencing exceptionally high demand. I gave up; luckily, it started. I rushed to my usual garage. They don't do immobilisers, but know a man who does. He's not answering. Having kept the engine running I drive home and call RAC Homestart. Patrick turns up and does a computer diagnosis. Clears fault, but fault comes back again. He searches through the algorhythms on his computer and finds one suggestion that it could be loose wiring in the ignition console. He removes the console cover and adjusts a loose wire and sprays it. The car then starts and the computer sees no more fault codes. The car remains trouble free two days later. Thank you Patrick. You showed a lot of concern and took a lot of trouble; and solved a problem which Nissan, Milton Keynes couldn't even look at for three weeks. So, my conclusion: lousy telephone service; first class patrolman who was also pleasant and charming.
