Unnecessary Problems With Cars

There is a new thread on here about Twingo clutch mechanisms. There are numerous threads about brakes and handbrakes. I am aware of other threads on other Forums about steering columns, suspension mountings and all the rest of it. They all, to me, seem to come down to the same thing. Manufacturers cutting corners over production costs. (We can save a penny a car if we use a cheaper material for that.) Cars were not invented yesterday, it takes only minutes to work out stress and strain actions on a component, so why can't they just get, at least, the safety factors, right first time. You only have to look at VOSA recall lists to see how many makes and models put us at risk daily with these unnecessarily potentially dangerous cost cuttings. Worse though in my opinion are the handbrakes that release because of the too-fine ratchets. Manufacturers excuse for this being that they think we are upset by a too-noisy ratchet. Or handbrake discs that release when cooled. Rubbish, they could do the same as I have on my car, a dedicated rear drum only for the handbrake if they want to use rear discs, but no, that adds to production costs.
I also see more and more cars suffering from electrical problems through water getting into the car when it rains. Hello, this is the UK - it rains here. I have had waterproof cars in the past, why not today?
