Hey all.
Bit of background first..
Bought a 2001 1.8 SRI 130 vectra 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. About 3 trips after buying, it developed a misfire. It struggled to go up hills and idled very rough. Sounded like a Subaru on idle.
Anyway, borrowed a fault diagnostics kit and i got the following faults:
0202 - Cylinder 2 Injector Open
0304 - Cylinder 4 Misfire detected and
0443 - Evaporative emission control system purge control valve circuit shortened.
Phoned a vauxhall Technician who said it sound like a coil pack issue and he was 99% sure.
So bought a new coil pack and spark plugs and it still ran rough..
Some days when it is really cold, the car starts and drives fine, until it gets a little warmer when the roughness comes back. Please not starting the car isnt a problem, just the idleing and running rough.
I borrowed a compression tester and ran on all 4 cylinders. Cylinder 1,2 and 3 were 16 PSI but cylinder 4 was 12....Oh dear.
I also did a wet test and i got 15 PSI from Cylinder 4.
Ive tried to look down the cylinder with the Endoscope but i cant see anything.
Any suggestions as to what my problem is... I;ve heard it could be a bent valve or piston rings have gone on cylinder 4. But i cant see the valves and i dont get any smoke or smells from the engine and no oil identified anywhere other that the Oil tank.. Water levels are also fine...
Please advise...
