I have knocked someones mirror off with my car door. I was parked up and getting back into my car and the other car was driving past. The car was very close and the wind caught my door and blew into the other car's wing mirror and knocked it off plus it had made a few scratches on said car.
The lady in the other car was so lovely and I was very apologetic about it. She said to get a mirror from the scrapyard. Its proving difficult to get hold of so we thought of going through the ins. The thing is, I have heard that if I were to go through the ins it would be the other car that would be at fault as you are meant to leave a car door space when driving. Is this true? I don't want to do this really as I don't want it to cost this other person as I do feel responsible.
I was going to suggest giving some money for her to repair it herself.
