Hi, my peugeot was stolen then recovered a few days later. I asked for an assessment and my insurance company said ok and took it to the assessor. The assessor would not enter the car because the thieves took drugs in it and left a needle inside but noted that the car had no damage just some scratches. He then called it a category a write off. I have called my insurance company and told them I want it back and was told no and it would be crushed, I called back the next day and asked if I was still the owner to which they confirmed I am, after a lot of complaints by me they are going to reverse the category a write off decision and return it to me. So my questions are how can they remove the cat a decision once given and how can they give it cat a status when the assessor didn't complete the assessment. Something fishy going on here now my insurance company are avoiding questions given false information and within the last half hour have told me that the car has left hand side damage to the body andhave said no damage. suspension damage the same side. However they are unaware I saw the car with no damage before they took it and all along they have said it was not damaged. Its giving me a huge amount of stress so any help would be great. Thank you.
