Hi guys, another probably daft question from a new driver.
When learning I did not usually press the accelerator and clutch simultaneously unless obviously pulling away. When shifting down a gear especially more than one gear e.g. coming to a sharp corner/junction/roundabout I have to lift off clutch very slowly to avoid the lurch. I know theres a heel and toe technique to overcome this but I cant do this
Recently I noticed if I want to change down, instead of lifting off I can keep the accelerator the same position and change down, and in the time it takes to move the gear stick the revs go up to match the next gear so it is a lot smoother. The only downside is you need to change down before starting to slow down so maybe use a bit more petrol/wear on engine. Just wondering if this is a good idea as it seems to give more control of the car. Is it bad for the engine or clutch or any other parts?
Thanks
