Hi, I just wanted some general advice please.

In March this year I took the Honda in for a service and had brand new discs and pads all round. A couple of weeks ago (and a few thousand miles later) I became aware of a scraping sound from when applying the brake. I took the car back in to the same garage and was told the spacer had seized. This had caused the brakes to wear down and scrape the disc on once side, meaning the car needed brand new discs and pads on one side again. The guy at the garage advised this was not their fault that the spacer had subsequently seized, but that it was not my fault either. In light of the situation, he advised they would replace the discs and pads on one side for half the usual price (£150) as a goodwill gesture. With no other option at the time (as I couldn't drive legally without working brakes) I paid to get this fixed. I was told the spacer had been unseized and to bring it back in a few weeks to get this checked.

I was wondering for anyone's opinion on whether you feel this is a fair deal at all, as I don't have much knowledge in this area. Could the seizure of the spacer have been related in anyway to the changing of the discs/ pads back in March, or this just something that could have happened at any time? It did feel to me that the original work on the discs/ pads should have been covered under warranty and replaced for free.

Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas,
Graham.
