HELP !!!
Have got a BMW 1 series, paid 4 years finance and 1 year left to pay.
Driving home to Swansea from Manchester airport Thursday 21.09.17 at 11.50 pm, car pulled out of inside lane to middle (which we were in) as there was a lorry coming on to the the M5 junction 4, I can only assume we were in her blind spot. (My wife called the police when the girl wouldn't stop, they also passed the call to traffic police)
A young new driver who was insured was driving her fathers car slammed straight in to us.
She didn't stop initially, we had to chase her, flashing her to pull over, eventually she did after 2 1/2 - 3 miles,
the girl and her 15 yr old brother both jumped out of her car apologising that they didn't see us.
Totally admitted liability, swapped details etc...only cosmetic damage and we both went on our way.
Next morning girls father text me to keep it out of insurance as daughter was young driver and her insurance would go sky high, he wanted to foot the bill ( not viable as living in Birmingham) advised we had already called our insurance.(as my wife commutes 40 miles a day in it to work) he also thanked us for looking after his children.
Claim in, sent to Days in Swansea (top end quotation) Friday 22.09.17 for assessment.
MOT is now due Wednesday 27.09.17
So Monday 25.09.17 car passed MOT
Young girl driver rang me Tuesday 26.09.17 to see if we could not go through the insurance, but advised we had already done so !
Tax due Sunday 01.10.17 (Had to tax as still driving + passed MOT)
Letter dated Monday 25.09.17 arrives on Thursday 28.09.17 to say car repairs are 66% of the value of the car.
Now awaiting settlement !!!
Then tonight 02.10.17 I get a text message telling me my car insurance is going up £400 a year !!! Rang them and they said it's your postcode, HOW ?? we've been here 10 years & been with our insurers 3 years, then they said "You may have another accident" ????
Whats going on ?? Non fault & no claims for over 20 years !
Please help with any advice
Many thanks in advance
