My wife's car broke down and was collected by RAC from roadside and taken to my address on the 2nd of August. That part of the service was exactly what was expected.
I was recommended a Garage by RAC to be responsible for the collection and repair of my car.
The car was collected and assessed by RAC, who then informed me that they could not handle the job and would send my car onto a specialist discovery garage, but would still oversee the work
They have subsequently relinquished all responsibility for the car without informing either me or the specialist, or RAC. RAC says they know nothing about it. The specialist has been waiting around doing nothing - didn't think to tell me that they couldnt do anything - because they need further authorisation from RAC to investigate my car's issues. This means my car has been sitting gathering dust due to the original Garage not informing me of what was happening and any of their conversations with RAC or the Specialist.
I have expected better service from RAC as a company. My car has been sitting around for the best part of a month it seems with no progress whatsoever, and not so much as courtesy call - from anyone! Everytime i chase anyone, they blame the others!
In addition I was not at any time informed that I would have to arrange a courtesy car the next day if I wanted one. I went on holiday straight after this incident and therefore did not need a car. When I got back off holiday and needed a replacement car (not least because of the delay), I was told I had missed my opportunity, by an RAC employee who was just reading standard answers off a sheet. When I asked to speak to a manager, they were busy. I have called RAC a number of times. I have emailed RAC a number of times. I get nothing back from them. I have contacted the CEO of RAC. I have had nothing back from that office. How is this business being run? "Just Ignore 'em and they'll go away"?
This has been a shockingly disorganised experience and I wish for this matter to be addressed as soon as possible. I need a replacement car as I have waited almost a month for a positive result on the Discovery, which due to poor organisation and mis-communication by a recommended RAC Garage, has not been forthcoming. I am still no better off. Exactly when do the benefits of this RAC Cover actually materialise.
Please have someone who knows what they are doing contact me as soon as possible.
