Hi guys,
I'll soon be making a journey from Leicestershire down to Wiltshire. I usually check google maps for my fastest route as I find it to be the most reliable with traffic, and I found something quite interesting.
It gave me 2 options. The first was almost straight mostly using the A249, a single lane A road which probably has a lot of roundabouts and stoppages. The second was longer, requiring me to go over to the M5 and then down. They both took roughly the same time (within 10 mins) however the A road route was 125 miles whilst the motorway route was 150.
My question is which one do you reckon would use the least fuel as I know driving at 70/80 for long periods does use a bit of fuel but then I also know that going from 50 to 10 then back to 50 over and over also isnt very good for fuel consumption.
I'm not really too bothered about the cost, it just sprung an interesting question into my mind which I didnt know the answer to.
Cheers
P.S I have a 1.6 Astra
