I received an email from my insurer a few days ago that they need to run through some Underwriting questions with me to ensure my Notification is logged correctly on my policy. I don't remember making a notification. Two days later they emailed to say a claim had been made against me and to ring them.
It transpired a HGV lorry I had an incident with in Jan made a claim that I damaged his vehicle. I took pictures and have a video. He was trying to come into my lane and he's left hand drive with foreign plates, pretended not to speak English and refused to give me any contact or insurance details. I rang the police and they spoke to him, the lady on the phone said he had agreed to give me his info but he didn't.
Foolishly out of the goodness of my heart I didn't pursue the matter further with the police as him leaving without giving any info was a crime.
I donot recall notifying my insurer so does this mean my insurance will be voided? It's due next month.
I'll be most grateful for advice please. I had a lot going on and didn't want to be bugged down with paper work and though this guy will be impossible to find as he and his vehicle was obviously out of the country.
Shall I now claim for the scratch? I already denied any fault.
