Buying and test driving a sorn car that has MOT

Hi all,

I'll be taking a look at a car tonight. This would be my first car so I don't know exactly how to go about the whole process.
The car has valid MOT but is sorn. Apparently there are no failures to the car but of course, I'd like to test drive it before buying it of this private seller. Esp since I wouldn't be able to return it if something is wrong with it.

The car has 86000miles on it, is from 2004 and comes with a reasonable price. The seller has said that they are selling because they wanted an Automatic. I assume this is why the car is sorn, they must have already bought a new car for themselves.

I, myself, haven't had a car since last year when I was driving my partners car so currently I'm not insured either.

How do I go about test driving it? Would the seller have to tax and insure it? Or do I?
