Ever since September, I've been bothered by calls from a number belonging to NGW. Well, I don't usually respond but lost the plot two days ago when I got a call at 0844 and one at 0859. Answered latter and politely but determinedly asked why I was getting all these calls when I don't live in their area and we cannot have mains gas! Poor lass was confused and put me through to customer service. Explained situation again and another puzzled lady but she took action. Later that morning got a phone call from another NGW number and this lady had a bit of knowledge on the subject and promised she'd sort it out.
Text today (when I was back in signal) to say that it was an IT issue for an engineer's phone who'd been trying to contact me (well, someone else) over a gas issue; it's been sorted and I shouldn't be contacted again. I've been given direct line phone number for the customer services boss if it happens again and asked to contact them asap if it does. Profuse apologies, too. So well done NGW!
I've contacted O2 about this and the myriad of other unsolicited calls I've been getting since I've gone to contract with them. O2 say the number is computer-generated. However, from doing some checking back and answering some callers, it's mostly north-east and Lincolnshire - including one from a primary school and the GMB union!! Now this number is only known to half a dozen friends; my Voda number is very well known as it has to be given I'm an official on motorsports events. So can only conclude I've been given the number of someone who used to live in that part of the country as so many unsolicited calls originate there. Unfortunately, as my phone is a very old one, I can't block calls on it, but don't want to swap phone as it is very tough, which I need, and don't want to swap and the number is on TPS.
