Hi can anyone help with my girlfriends car. She started getting misfire codes on her car cylinder 1 and 4 also random misfire code. So sent it to the garage came back with fault plugs and coil pack so was changed. Within 10 minutes the fault returned so sent it back, in totally it spent 4 days in garage it they were no further forward but the final straw was when they rang and said they needed to do a full engine strip down to see if they could find the fault so I pulled the car out of garage and sent it to another 1. This garaged diagnosed the fault as a faulty earth on ECU, was replaced and ran fine for a few weeks. Codes came on after a few weeks diagnosed a faulty plug and replaced car ran fine for a month or so. Faults came back on and sent back to the garage again, this time plugs, coilpack and injectors changed but the fault still persisted. The car has spent nearly a month there as we were away on holiday for 3 weeks so gave them plenty of time to fix it. Came to collect car and it still was done, garage said they thought it was ECU fault. They replaced the ECU with a second hand 1 still no look but said it might not be the correct ECU for car. So i decided to rip out the ECU myself and sent it off to be fixed if possible. ECU company have tested the ECU and have found no faults what so ever despite the garage insisting it was a faulty ECU. I'm starting to get fed up now sending it to garage after garage and still no further forward. Has anyone had similar problems this
