Hi all,
I have a Citroen c3 1.4 03 plate with 80,000 miles on the clock.
I've had the car since May 2015 and in all honesty for the last 6 months it's been a complete nightmare ...
Due to the known fault of the leaky washer jets I've had countless replacement fuel injectors and sealant applied to try and prevent further replacements.
I've broken down a handful of times because the fuel pipe has disconnected.
For the past few weeks I've noticed that the engine revs extremely loudly after changing gear every now and again and then calms back down again within seconds, similar to what would happen if I had my clutch and accelerator pressed at the same time only I don't have my foot on the clutch?
Most recently though the problem is the power steering. After having pulled up and turned the engine off for 5-10 minutes i then restarted the engine and pulled away. I noticed straight away that the steering was extremely stiff. After a quick 5 minute drive to my destination I turned the engine off. After around 20 minutes I came back to the car and turned the engine on, trying the steering. No problems!
I thought nothing of it and carried on driving it as normal for the next few days. Today it happened again. Pretty much the same as before. Engine off for a few minutes after a normal drive. Turned the engine back on and really stiff steering. Engine off for 20 minutes or so and tried again, steering back to normal!
I'm not sure whether it is related but I've also been able to hear a squealing noise when I drive that stops if I turn the steering wheel a little in either direction. This only happens every now and again as well.
Any help would be appreciated! I don't really know anything about power steering and after googling it a little I'm still at a loss. All I know is that it's electric power steering so there's no fluid level to check and that's it's likely to be an expensive fix 😐😐
Is there a steering belt? Could this be the cause?
Agghh so confused!
