Ford mondeo 1.8tdci 2008 - alternator dead, battery dies - cluster disp fault

I had my Mondeo die on me this morning; RAC called, came out and assessed my alternator was faulty, not charging the battery and that's why the car died. I must point out the car came to a physical stop and while waiting for the RAC the hazards finally gave out.

Just had the alternator replaced and the car is working fine - with the exception that the display isn't right. Here goes:

- The Radio is now asking for a keycode - which I don't have, bought the car second hand - Bad.
- The RPM clock works OK - Good.
- The Speedo clock doesn't move no matter how fast I go - Bad
- The display between the two clocks showing the Mileage and the Trip - both have dashes running across them once the engine is running. If I unlock the steering wheel but don't start the car, the mileage is displayed; it only goes to dashes once the engine starts.
- The ABS and I guess the traction control (two wiggly lines) warnings are both displayed on the Speedo clock; also a red circular display.

Any ideas anyone? It seems it could have something to do with the car dying when the alternator finally expired; the RAC guy had to use a batter pack to get me moving - and also hooked up some power leads to get the car started. Any ideas please?
