Road risk insurance at work?

Hello,

I am a mobile service engineer that works on equipment in customers vehicles at customers premises. Sometimes in a private compound and sometimes in a public carpark.
This work involves driving the vehicle a short distance (200m) to test the installed equipment.

Despite asking my company is unable to provide confirmation of being covered for road risks when working in a public carpark.
We can get the customer to carry out the distance check but its inconvenient for them. We should do it and most engineers do so without much concern for getting 6 points when things go wrong...

My question is...

Does anyone have any specific information/link whether simply being in charge of the vehicle (with keys / engine running) has the same insurance requirements as road risks?
As it does from a "drunk in charge of a vehicle" perspective.

Thank you!

Simannjo
