Caught driving with no insurance, need some help.

Hi all, I have only held my license for 5 month. My car was insured as far as I knew. What I didn't realise is the insurance company canceled my insurance policy. Now I'm looking at 6 points and a fine.
Is they any way round getting the 6 points as I need my car for my job otherwise I'd loose my job :/.
