My Daughters clio expression 51 plate 1.2 has a starting problem
when you turn the key to position before starter engages the instrument lights come on as they should but during this time the relays under the bonnet pulse / click at the same time the fuel pump pulses (not the usual few seconds) but constantly on and off and the injector(s) pulse aswell sending fuel into the engine this usually last till just after the immobilser light turns off ( but sometimes longer) the rev counter needle also twitches
when you turn key to engage starter the car turns over sometimes it will start but mostly bogs down with fuel but keep it cranking and it may eventually start
once it is running if you increase revs to say 2000rpm and hold the engine will die for a split second completely dials hit the bottom then come straight back engine returns to 2000rpm
Oddly once the car is very warm all the problems goes away and behaves as it should
turn the key, immobiliser light goes out, hear relay click, fuel pump primes, then starts and runs ok
have checked codes and comes up with vss speed sensor (ours is part of abs sensor - have disconnected it but makes no difference
have also disconnect most other circuits inc main connectors from ecu
does anyone have any suggestions?
p.s the speedo works ok
