Hi all, newbie here.
Was after some advice after trawling Google for what seems like forever!
So my household has 2 cars, 1 driveway with a dropped kerb. There is a space with raised kerb inbetween my dropped kerb driveway access and my next door neighbours dropped kerb driveway access.
Next door to my immediate neighbour (I'm 36, next door is 38 so I'm referring to number 40) the house has a hard standing front as a drive way but, no dropped kerb access. The current owners of number 40 moved in about 6 months ago, 2 transit vans and 1 medium sized car came with them. Up until a month ago they were parking on their hard standing front (as the previous owners did for 10 plus years no problem.) 1 of number 40s transit vans or their medium sized car is now always parked right outside my house. OK so it's not obstructing my drive and there are no road markings on this space nor is the kerb dropped, it's just annoying.
We have since found out that they council have informed them that by parking on their hard standing front they are committing an offence and can no longer park on their front until the kerb is dropped as they are damaging the footpath.
The space outside their house, not the hard standing driveway thing but, the public road of where they have no dropped kerb (yet) is big enough space for 2 vehicles. It seems they have been parking 1 vehicle in the middle of the space to stop others parking outside their house. So the last week or so I have been parking my car outside my house on the road instead of using my driveway. I've lived here for 7 years and one of my households cars has always parked on my drive and the other out the front of the house on the road.
Number 40 have started parking 1 van and their car now in the double space outside their house (the other van is round the corner in a parking strip bit) but when I pop out I come home to find that one of their vehicles has now moved to outside my house and the other vehicle is now in the centre of the double space outside their house.
Now they have lived here 6 months, we have tried to say hello but, they don't acknowledge most neighbours, I've knocked as well to politely ask if they could refrain from parking outside my house in the evenings because hubby likes to park outside but, they never answer (I know they aren't breaking the law and can park where ever but courtesy and all that.)
So my actual question is; can I park outside their house on the road? There is no dropped kerb although a hard standing front "driveway" which the council have said in court they can't use until the kerb is dropped.
Thanks for any input!
