I am wondering if anyone can assist me with where I can go my complaint, as I am very unhappy with the outcome after RAC decided not to cover cost after damage to my car.
I had a blow out on the rear on boxing day (great luck, eh). I managed to crawl home the final mile on the tyre to get home. I called the RAC as I was unable to remove one of the wheel nuts with the pathetic wheel brace that Audi give with the car. The patrol man came out and tried to use a much larger wheel brace but the nut started to round off slightly. In order to push the wheel brace as tight as possible into the nut, he used a metal hammer. During one of his attempts at hitting the brace, he missed and smashed the hammer down onto my alloy. He immediately apologised and at first glance it didnt look too bad. I signed the forms to say he couldnt remove it and off he went.
I called up the RAC to raise a complaint on 7th Jan and they have just today decided to get back to me with their decision. This is after I provided everything they asked for, including a garage report. They said that there "experts" have closely observed the pic (which I have attached) and they say that this cannot possible be caused by the patrol man, that this is damage caused by a serious impact with the kerb. They cannot ask the patrol man as, conveniently, he no longer works for the RAC. They basically they say I am lying, even though they cannot discount my side of the story as they have no proof.
I am absolutely livid. I explained to them that I will have to get all of my alloys done as a result of this damage, and one refurb will look stupid (not their problem they said) which I kinda agree with but still this costs me as a result of this damage.
Can anyone please tell me if I can take this any further?
Cant post attachments so a link to pic is here http://imgur.com/wDn5vXM
Thanks a lot for the help.
