My parked car (Renault Modus) was hit last Thursday by a courier service van (Mercedes Sprinter) after a speeding driver forced him to take action to avoid being hit by him. The van driver's passenger side tyre was punctured and the wheel rim bent, but the other driver is classed as hit and run. Although I heard the accident, I did not see it, but there are 2 witnesses and possible CCTV from a nearby pub. I rang the police whilst getting details from the van driver and received an incident log without attendance by them, spoke to my insurance company and the van driver also spoke with them and admitted liability to them. I'm being guided by my insurance company and they arranged with a leasing group for a courtesy car which I received on Saturday. I've now received phone confirmation that my car is being written off as category C and I've agreed to let my insurance company keep the car. Could anyone tell me what the next step and possible timescale in the process is please? It took months trying to find a car to suit my lack of height and although I'm now trying to find another, not knowing how much or when I'm likely to be paid out is going to be a substantial hurdle.
