I bought a 60 plate car 56k miles on the clock which for a diesel isn't something that worries me, and when I collected it there were a few problems that were noted and repair was promised at one of the other garages within the franchise that was more local to where I stayed, great :)
since the initial problems there have been so many more problems and not just minor issues were talking major mechanical issues here and so far the local garage has been carrying out repairs under instruction from the selling branch, I have also been in constant communication with the companies customer service team
I have been supplied with a hire vehicle which has been some piece of mind
the questions really are:
-once the car is repaired am I within my rights to request them to authorise an independent check on the vehicle by a third party ?
-does the initial warranty extend beyond the two months considering my car has been in the garage now in total 3.5 week and ive only owned the car since the 17th January?
- should they decide to stop repairing the car as cost are mounting up what should I expect in terms or replacement/compensation?
I took out a very very high interest loan to be able to buy this car for peace of mind as myself and my son have health problems and I had just had some very expensive repairs done on my previous two cars and decided to sell and trade in those to get myself something newer and it is giving me no end of stress at the moment
the initial problems to be fixed by the allocated garage were:
new parking sensors
new windscreen
new bonnet catch
new front grill
starter motor - recall
ignition - recall
there was excessive rattle from the clutch and loss of power and smell of oil had to get a breakdown truck to come get the car and drop it at the garage the following issues were fixed
new clutch
new flywheel
new slave ?
we collected the car and it was back at the garage within 3 hours with an oil leak and suspected sump plug overtightened but a hole was found so more repairs are as follows :
-new sump fitted and they were going to do a regen on the car today but road tested it and now there's noise from timing belt and its to be taken apart to check parts for failure etc
cam belt - prior to sale service
disc & pads- prior to sale service
and god knows what else as I have no service book or list of work done
MOT done at same time as pre sales service
I am also till waiting on the selling garage sending me out these replacements :
service book -missing on delivery date
parcel shelf - missing on delivery date
door light cover - broken on delivery date
