I'm a new driver currently 17 years old, 18 years old the 9th of april. Just got my driver license one month ago. I want to buy a car, but the insurance is breaking my back. My dad has a car to sell to me, for a cheap price, which is a Peugeot 206 Year 2003, convertible, automatic, 1.6L. I was thinking of being a named driver, while my dad is the main driver, since I won't use the car much, only for small trips. The quote I've got was £6.000-£8.000 annually. Is this even possible? My dad have been driving for 20 years, and haven't been in any car accidents the last 7 years.
Could the high quote be because of the car? The car has good security, no modifications, held in a driveway during night.
Do you suggest a good car, which can lower my insurance down to £1.000-£2.500 annually? Any car would do, as long as it takes me from A to B. However, not too of girly car though :P
