Okay here is the deal I'm an expat (non-EU) studying (undergraduate) on student visa tier 4.
My family has a BMW 7 series 2007 all registered and insured and all the formalities, in Germany. It's a car we use during vacation when we go there every year. (I'm not a resident in Germany either)
I drive here in UK a very stupid hyundai i10 car because insurance cost are crazy here for 18 year olds .
Can I drive and bring the the BMW here in UK only for the period I'm studying(3years) but keep it registered under German plates, return it to Germany after studies are complete .
I was reading on the internet about it but most of the people asking were either working in UK and its not permitted to drive car more than 6 months
I got this from the gov.UK website under temporary import
https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/temporary-imports
"""
Students and workers
You may be able to use a vehicle with non-UK number plates for longer than a 6-month period, without taxing or registering it, if all the following apply:
youre a student or worker
you normally live outside the EU
youre in the UK for a set study or work period
the vehicle is registered in its home country
""""
P.S.
This is my first post hope I wrote everything is under rules and regulations
