Hi, my first time posting on this forum, and only doing so because of the continued misleading nature of RAC advertising of the European Cover.
Looking at the website today, the RAC continue to advertise that garage labour costs are covered, the only obvious caveat being that there is a £150 limit.
In France last year, my car broke down, was duly repaired, and I fully expected that a contribution would be made towards garage labour costs. Apparently not !! This cover is only provided if your car is repaired on the same day of breakdown!!!
I would dare to suggest that in the vast majority of breakdown incidents where a repair is required, for a local breakdown garage to be able to source a replacement part and carry out the repair, would be highly unlikely, thus rendering this cover worthless as I was to find out.
This cover was a major factor in my deciding to opt for the RAC over other providers, and when this was pointed out to "Customer Services" my complaint as to there advertising of this benefit, was dismissed out of hand.
Conclusion: read the smallprint .......... but the RAC do need to acknowledge that this really is an issue !!!
