Very sluggish pulling away after driving through flood water

During very heavy rain, I drove through a short (about 6 feet) of flood water which looked shallow but must have been much deeper because the bow wave hit the top of the windscreen at about 10mph. No stalling, I continued to drive for another ten minutes and stopped at a Starbucks to calm down a bit!

After about 30 minutes parked up, I drove out of the car park and the minor road and mini-roundabout, to pull up at the give-way line to a major roundabout to continue my journey home.

When my window appeared to enter traffic on the major roundabout, I pulled off - which is usually quite responsive - but as I got near to the top end of revs for 1st gear, the car started to slow down and I was nearly a sitting duck on the inside lane of a major roundabout.

I managed to drive at top speed (about 10mph) with my hazards on - fortunately everyone around me had picked up my problem - and once I exited the roundabout I was able to build gradually to the 70mph for the road home.

It has been ok since, pulling up at lights and pulling off etc.

I will be checking the oil for emulsion, air filter etc.

Would just appreciate any feedback or further advice please as it may be useful to others.
