Hi - I am new to the forum and would like to introduce myself and give a little background.
I have bought and sold a number of cars over the years and am now doing a part time job of the local car auction.
The advantage is that I get to access cars coming through the stock range and can review them. In a few cases, I have bought them at a knock down price and sold them on at a profit.
The cold weather is a good time to buy as only seasoned traders are around.
My first review is a 2006 VW Passat 2.0TDi saloon. It had 130,000 miles on the clock and was a main dealer part exchange. I had not driven the Mk5 version and was a good opportunity to put it through its paces. It was well equipped and quite powerful to drive. The handling was really good too.
As with many part exchanges, it did not come with a service history and was a little carworn.
I bought it from the ring at £1375 and sold it for £2200. I gave it a polish and my man in the trade did the servicing at trade rates.
The new owners were really happy with the result and it was rewarding to sell on a good quality car.
Passats are really popular cars and for good reason. They go on for miles and feel as solid as a rock. Definitely a good family wagon.
I will be posting a number of reviews of cars I get to drive (and sell) so look out for my posts.
