Fiat Punto, Mk2, 2004, 1.2 Engine
I have had this car for almost a year now. It is my first car and had been fine up until three months ago when I could feel something felt different when I was stuck in traffic. I noticed the engine was making a different noise as though it was struggling to keep going and it felt like it was jolting quite a bit, it also started cutting out on me gradually over a few weeks and more and more.
I took it into Halfords about 7 weeks ago now for a free safety and battery check and they explained its most likely the cold weather and fiat puntos are known to jolt apparently. They didn't find anything wrong from these tests they carried out. However since then it has got worse and I am convinced it is more and there is a problem. The car continues to cut out now and again but it has started to be so much effort driving uphill and starting off uphill because even though I really accelerate, the car just goes really slow sometimes for a good 20 seconds. I have felt like I have broken down almost until it suddenly shoots off and then its fine driving then. I just don't feel comfortable driving on certain roads because of this. The car is fine when driving down the road normally at 30 mph but when it comes to driving slowly in traffic it jolts more and it feels like its going to cut out.
I know its an older car and it will come problems but this is getting worse and I feel unsafe driving it more now. Sorry for the long explanation I just thought it was necessary. Would really appreciate some advice please
