Using vehicle damage to determine what happened

I’d appreciate any thoughts on this car incident.

The third party is claiming that my vehicle 'pulled out in front' of them while turning right at a yellow box junction, and that they were going straight ahead.

The damage to my vehicle shows that the rear nearside corner was scraped, with the scrape going 7 inches across the rear of my car (nearside). This damage rubbed off without needing a repair, the area did not crumple.

The scrape was caused by the front number plate of the other vehicle, which is the only part of the third party’s vehicle that was damaged.

Of course, I am asking because the third party has lied about what happened, can anyone explain how this damage could possibly match their version of events? My insurance company are appalling.
