A few weeks ago, whilst driving at around 50mph, my Zafira suddenly went into limp mode and the orange warning (spanner) light came on. Error code came up as P0340 (camshaft position sensor). Took it to garage who replaced camshaft position sensor and crank sensor. Picked it up from the garage and the light came straight back on (showing the same error code). The car seems to drive fine (although I've not pushed it) and the light only seems to come on if the engine is cold. If I restart the engine say, 15 minutes after a journey, the light doesn't come back on, but if I leave it anything longer than 30 minutes, the light does come on.
Took it back to the garage, who replaced the sensor again. I rang them this morning to ask them to start the car from cold, and they've reported that the light has come back on. They have now suggested that I take it to a Vauxhall dealer who will be better placed to diagnose the fault. However, I just know that they will insist on changing the sensor AGAIN, when it is looking like an electrical/computer fault, and charge a fortune for the privilege.
My question is, would it be possible to run the car with the sensor disconnected? I've looked online and can't find much information about this.
Thanks
