So I recently bought a Peugeot 207 1.4 16v 2007 model, I bought this with a snapped timing belt with the intention of fixing and selling as I do.
Stripped the engine replaced all valves, lapped them in etc etc.. New timing belt kit, water pump (which had collapsed), head gasket kit. I had the head skimmed. So I built it up and timed it up.
Now the fault. The car starts up okay but has a top end rattle which sounds like noisy tappets, this noise will go away when the engine runs for 5-10 minutes but will come back after left to cool. It also idles slightly high around about 1300 rpm which I can't find any air leaks. The only fault code I'm getting is to do with the variable valve timing solenoid. I have checked and triple checked the timing to which I'm sure is correct.
Any ideas or help is appreciated. Thanks
