Hi, i am sorry if this question has been brought up before but ive never bought a car before so i am abit new to this.
I bought a car of a mechanic local to my area 3 months ago and it had 3 months on its MOT left. I sent the car in for its MOT today and he charged me £60 for it. Upon investigation i found out that the maximum someone can charge is £54.85.
He rang me and said 'now obviously the car has failed its mot due to its brakes' He then went on to tell me that he pads on the disc brakes had completely worn down and it due to general wear and tear. I dont drive alot i usually only use my car on the weekends so i dont see how 3 months of use could of worn the pads on the brakes that much.
Does anyone know where i stand in this and what i can do because i am slightly dubious about paying out for new brakes and the cost of them being fitted without some advice. Thank you :)
