Hi, I'm new on here and hoping to share my tale to help others avoid a similar problem.
Earlier this week, I noticed a warning light on the dashboard of my 2011 Peugeot 207 and booked in into the distributor garage that I purchased it from (brand new).
I received a call later that day to tell me that a hairline fracture had appeared in the pipe to my windscreen washer pump, causing fluid to leak into the engine and ruin the engine wiring loom and fusebox. They told me this would cost around £2,800 to repair. However, the dealership were aware the same fault had occurred in other cars of my make and model and already phoned Peugeot, who agreed to pay the cost of parts.
The dealership rep categorically told me that this is a known problem for some of these cars and that Peugeot have since stopped using that particular product. He wouldnt give me much more detail as he said this was Peugeot sensitive information.
The dealership have since reduced their bill for repairs, but Peugeot are not willing to make any further offer to help me pay for this as the car is out of warranty, despite the fact that the fault was in the car at the time of purchase. I purchased the car from new and have repeatedly used the dealership for MOTs, servicing, winter checks etc so its not as though I would have been hard to track down and inform of this issue.
If you have a Peugeot 207 purchased in the last few years, please get this checked out - your car may have the same fault and already be causing untold ££££s worth of damage. Unfortunately I don't know exactly when Peugeot resolved this fault.
Just a quick google search brought up a similar tale - http://www.vwt4forum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=286724. I wonder how many people this has happened, and is yet to happen, to.
