So after being with the RAC for 5 years and paying them £150 per year. Tonight my van doors locked on there own whilst i was out of my vehicle. I was stood in a back alley, in the dark and rain. I rand the RAC who informed me that becuase i was near to my house i would have to pay a extra £75 as my policy did not cover at home. I have since looked online and discovered that they dont even have a policy available that costs £220 for a year. In fact for a all singing and dancing policy that covers everything its £123 yet i pay more than that and they wanted to charge me a extra £75. What a joke, i was left with no choice but to pay a lock smith £50 to come out and doing something i pay cover for. What difference does it make as to where my vehicle is. Why does it cost a extra £75 because i am within a 1/4 of a mile of my house and what have i been paying a £150 a year for. I have used the RAC 3 times in the 5 years and paid them a vast amount of money yet in my hour of need they want to charge me the earth when im already over paying anyway. Needless to say, i have now cancelled my policy, and will be joining a more reputable firm. I would advise anybody against joining the RAC, there a rip of that over charge people and are quite happy to either force you to pay more money or leave you stranded. Never again will i join these or suggest anybody joins them
