Hi,
Can anyone advise?
My daughter's 2002 Clio 1.2 16V
Sometimes, on warm starts, the Electrical-Malfunction (Coil/Glowplug) Light stays on, and the car can stall.
When this happens the Charcoal Canister (EVAP) Purge Valve ticks for several minutes..... even after stopping with the key removed.
After a re-start the engine runs OK.
I have already...........
(1)Removed the ECU Box (Insulation had worn through to expose a little copper on two wires) This was Taped & resolved well before this problem.
(2)Read Codes; with basic scanner....none.
(3)Purge valve removed, elec conns left, and the intake plenum conn sealed. (Some improvement)
(4)MAF sensor inspected, cleaned.
(5)Engine wiring visually inspected, waggled, reseated where possible, including ECU plugs. All clean.
(6)The car had new plugs & Coil pack 12k miles ago (5 years)
What To Do?
(1)Currently I'm leaning towards Throttle-Body clean...
....But could a dirty Throttle-Body cause the odd EVAP Purge-Valve behavior?
(2)Reading up about EVAP systems I read someone talk about "Up Oxygen Sensor" failure. Does this Clio have one?
(3)The problem occure more on reversing so could the engine earth be suspect (flexing?). But there are no Starting problems.
Can anyone advise?
