A few questions!

Hi everyone.

I've just started learning and have a few questions that my Instructor has explained but I can't seem to get the jist of and I don't really want to be paying for constant explanations...

1) I understand that pressing down the clutch essentially disengages the wheels from the engine. However, when reaching the biting point why does the car fall in RPMs? And, are RPMS basically engine rotations?

2) Why do you need to put the clutch down when coming to a complete stop in gear? I don't really understand why you can brake in gear, yet when you arrive at a complete stop you must put the clutch down.

3) What is coasting? How would I know that I'm doing it?

And so that I can visualise it, is "neutral" basically just keeping the clutch down? Like, are the circular clutch/engine plates separated and when arriving at a complete stop, could I be in neutral instead of holding down the clutch?

Thanks :) x
