Debit card in hand but cannot get insured

Renewal came through no problem debit card at the ready, just need to confirm no breakdown required and no need for tool cover. Simples. Not so 8 phone calls and over an hour later on the phone. Excuses for not completing
1. you have left it 5 days prior to renewal date not possible to action - incorrect as pay annually
2. you are on autorenewal - incorrect as renewal letter states "if you do not renew the policy your cover will cease"
3. After 6 previous phone calls i'm not authorised to change the policy
4. I will get back to you Tomorrow with the renewed quote - never happened
5. Policy renewed without my permission - Fraud?
Needless to say after reading other comments on the forum this is not an isolated occurance. This made renewal of the policy all the easier
when i done a search on the web and found a comparable quote. The attitude is very much i'll say what i want to the customer as i'm not accountable for my actions. 12 years with the RAC and this is how you get treated!
